OPAL (Older People’s Action in the Locality) Activities December 2012

OPAL (Older People’s Action in the Locality) OPAL is a registered charity which supports the over 60’s living in Leeds 16, above the Ring Road. If you are over 60, and live in our area, you can become a full member of OPAL. OPAL membership costs £10 per year.

We have over seventy members exercising with OPAL each week: Gentle Exercise at The Stables on Wednesdays 11am—Midday; Tai Chi at Bramhope Methodist Church and at Adel Community Centre; Yoga at the Friends Meeting House on Thursdays 10am-11am.

Growing old can be fun!
Extract from OPAL Members’ Corner
‘Some Grannies sit in rocking chairs
and crocket shawls indoors.
My Granny jumps upon a horse
and rides across the moors.

And when I wish she’d sometimes stay
and tuck me up in bed,
she’s off to study yoga
and standing on her head.

She goes on day trips with her gang,
the over 60’s club.
They racket round the countryside
and end up in a pub!

I love my little Granny,
I think she’s simply great.
If that’s what growing old is like,
I simply cannot wait.’

ADEL ASSOCIATION MEETING – THURSDAY 18TH OCTOBER – UPDATE ON EASTMOOR SECURE UNIT PLANNING APPLICATION

Please see below received from Cllr Barry Anderson:

“Just to confirm that I received confirmation on 15th October from Officers that they will be attending the Adel Association meeting this Thursday at 7.30pm in respect of the planning application for the new Eastmoor Secure Unit, this is a follow up to the public meeting and the Adel Association meeting they attended recently. The officers will hopefully be able to give more details and set out more clearly what the application will entail, whereas last time it was only the outline they could give.

This is a public meeting open to anyone who wishes to attend. Can you let any friends, relatives or neighbours who may be interested in attending know about this meeting.”
