ADEL CRAG COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2012

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST SCHOOL ADEL

ALL WELCOME!

Residents and tenants in the Adel area are invited to join us for our 10th Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 11th September, 7.00pm, at Adel St. John the Baptist School, Long Causeway. Come along and listen to the debate or make your voice heard on issues that matter to you!

The meeting will elect up to nine members for the coming year and will focus on any concerns you may have about developments around the area.

Cllr Barry Anderson, representatives from West North West Homes and other interested organisations have been invited to attend.

It is important that you attend this meeting if you can and support what you believe needs to be done to make Adel a safer, more pleasant place to live.  This is the forum in which to air your views!

The issues could be about Eastmoor Secure Unit, Bus Service, ASB, Crime, Traffic, Footpaths, Roads, Noise Nuisance, Dog Fouling, Car Parking, Litter, Grass Cutting, Overgrown Shrubberies and Local Authority Services.

Adel Association Meeting – Eastmoor Secure Unit

Francis Garbutt attended the Adel Association meeting held at The Stables, Church Lane speaking for residents from Adel Crag Residents Association.  The meeting was well attended by over 100 residents.  Cllr Barry Anderson chaired the meeting due to unavailability of the Chair, Dr Barrie Hopson and Vice Chair, Paula Brown.

The debate was very interesting but many residents had concerns about traffic and the wider development opportunities.

Save Our Community School Crossing Patrol Warden

Some of you may have heard on the grapevine that there may be plans to remove the School Crossing Warden due to this service being under used.

We are concerned about the possibility of losing this service after a long and hard campaign by parents and our association to try and improve the road safety in our area.

To avoid this from happening could parents please encourage their children to use the School Crossing   Warden rather than take an alternative route to school.

There are approximately 20 children per day currently using this service but to make it cost-effective 50 would be a more ideal number.

We have been told that the School Crossing Warden and the Head of the School are considering offering a reward scheme of some sort for children who use the School Crossing Warden.

It is extremely important that parents taking their children to school who have not used the service could you please start to use the Warden now.  “If we do not use it we may lose it.”
