Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 10th October 2011

Crime
There has been 1 report of burglary in the last week, this occurred on Oaklea Gardens where a lock has been damaged on the rear door, property stolen along with the car parked on the drive, the vehicle has since been recovered.  There have been 4 reports of vehicle crime, these have all occurred on Farrar Lane in the car park or on the street where tyres have been slashed. One of the cars was also scratched, if you have seen or heard anything please get in touch or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. A door panel has been damaged by kicking on Kenworthy Rise.

ASB  No incidents to report.

Other News
PCSO Salkeld has been monitoring the parking situation at St John the
Baptist school, 1 driver was moved on from the yellow zig zag markings and
one driver given advice about not parking so close to the entrance as to
cause sight obstruction to other road users. If drivers do not comply then
we will be forced to issue tickets to get the message across. Children’s
safety is paramount, park a safe distance away and use the pavements to
walk your children into school.

SID / Speed gun
SID was deployed on the 13th to Adel Lane but there were no vehicles
speeding.

The speed gun was deployed on the 16th where 3 drivers were given tickets
to attend the speed awareness course rather than have points on their
licence.

David Blackham, Countryside Ranger for Leeds City Council, will be leading a work party on Saturday 29 October and then on the following dates.

Sat 3rd December, Sat 7th January, Sat 4th February, Sat, 3rd March and Sat, 7th April.

We will meet in the car park opposite the main gates at lOam. Gardening tools will be provided by David and also instructions on how to use them safely!

 The Friends will be conducting a Remembrance Day walk which will include the War Memorial and other World War 1 monuments of interest. The walk is free, but please book on 07813149321 so we have some idea of numbers. Please meet outside the waiting room next to the Chapel.

Saturday 22 October from 12.00- 3.00pm

 An excellent opportunity for adults and young people to work together. All under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. It is essential that you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.. 

Lincoln Christmas Market Trip 3rd December 2011

Probably the finest and most extensive Christmas Market in the UK. Set on a cobbled square beneath Lincolns magnificent 12th Century Cathedral are craft stalls, occupied by staff in period costumes, choirs bell ringers, hot chestnut stalls and festive fayre to appeal to all generations! The medieval square between the impressive Norman Castle and magnificent Gothic Cathedral is the perfect backdrop for the Christmas Market.

All bookings at this stage will be only available to residents who live in Adel on a first-come, first service basis. You may wish to bring your friends or family from another area providing one family member is a local resident of Adel.
