Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 2nd May

Unfortunately there has been a significant rise in crime in Adel this week. There have been 7 reported burglaries, 3 of these have occurred on Gainsborough Avenue where all 3 properties have had euro profile locks forced with mole grips, 1 of these had a car stolen,  Chestnut Drive where a euro profile lock has been attacked, 2 on Broomfield where again a euro profile locks attacked,  Farrar Lane where a rear door was left insecure. There has been no vehicle crime.  Extra patrols have been put into the area and 2 arrests have been made, see below.

There have been no ASB issues of note. On the 3rd PCSO King made extensive patrols of Adel covering the Waylands and Mulberry estates and onto Tile Lane where he heard some banging at the Eastmoor site, 5 youths ran off from him and were later identified and spoken to by him, all their details have been obtained, no evidence of any further damage found. The astro turf pitch was all quiet.

Arrests of note
2 males both from Bramley , aged 20 and 22 years, have been arrested for a burglary on Gainsborough Avenue after a vehicle stolen from that property was involved in an RTC and the driver detained, 1 is on bail the other has been charged and remanded.

Only yesterday (12th) we carried out another operation in conjunction with VOSA, Customs & Excise and Trading Standards, where we targeted bogus scrapper type vehicles/offenders covering Guiseley, Rawdon, Yeadon and Otley. The day was a huge success with 54 vehicles in total being checked at the site. Red diesel was found to be present in a vehicle and numerous vehicles were seized due to their unroadworthy condition. Further details and a photo to follow.
