Just received good news from Ailsa Rhodes, Coordinator in relation to the OPAL bid – Bedford Arms.
“I am writing this with my fingers crossed and with bated breath because we are on the verge of buying Bedford Arms. We have agreed a price with the property owners (£72,000 inc VAT) and the condition is that we complete before the end of March 2015. It is now with the solicitors.
We have £47,000 for Bedford which includes £12,000 raised through the ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign – we still have money coming in each day! We have the promise of £10,500 from Inner Area Community Initiative Fund which should reach our bank very soon and our fundraising team are doing an amazing job visiting local businesses and raising awareness. We also have a couple of grant applications pending.
We are cautiously optimistic that we will raise the remaining money needed – keep your fingers and toes crossed for us and if you haven’t made a donation yet, please go to our Local Giving Page https://localgiving.com/donation/opal and support this project. Any extra money we raise above the £72,000 will be put directly towards the renovation costs.
For everyone who has already given their support, a HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL.
We have had support from so many people giving their time to fundraise, spreading the word about our plans, giving their professional expertise and giving their money. It’s heart-warming to know that there are so many kind and generous people around. It makes it all the more important to us that we make Bedford Arms a vibrant and successful Community Centre.”
