New Premises: Bedford Arms Update
We are planning an OPEN DAY on June 24th to invite local people in to the Bedford Arms building, to look round, look at our plans and talk to us. Many thanks to those who have made a donation towards buying new premises. You can still make a donation online or by joining in our ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign. Please send your cheque, payable to OPAL at Unit 10, Holt Park District Centre, LS16 7SR.
Our lease at Holt Park was changed recently to 3 months notice – so we could be asked to leave our premises shortly. The Bedford Arms in Tinshill is in a reasonable condition. There are other groups who want to run activities there for young people in separate rooms in the evenings that would not clash with OPAL activities. We plan also to have a Community Café for all ages.
New OPAL Weekly Tuesday Lunch Club for 40 OPAL members. This started 1pm-3pm on 17th March at Adel Stables, Back Church Lane. Cost is £4 for a hot meal, dessert and cup of tea or coffee. Transport is available for £3.
Also at The Stables on Wednesday there is the Keep Fit Exercise group 11am-12noon for the over 60s. Table Tennis is on Thurs 2nd & 16th Apr 11am-12.30pm, cost £1, includes refreshments-all welcome, contact Amy at OPAL.
The monthly Writers’ Group meets at Holt Park Library 2pm-3.30pm with Librarian Ian McArdle on Mon 20 April-just come along, you do not need to be an OPAL Member.
The OPAL Men’s Group will visit the Yorkshire Air Museum on Wed 8th April.
The OPAL April Trip on Wed 22nd on the Settle Carlisle Railway is fully booked. On Fri 8th May 9.30am-5.30pm we visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park . On Fri 19th June there is a trip to Ilkley & Bolton Abbey, and on Thurs 25th June to Bridlington.
