More bus strike disruptions on Friday 8th, and Monday 11th, which may be of interest to you.

Adel 28We have been informed by First Leeds that their drivers are taking industrial action again and there will not be any Adel 28 service operating on Friday and Monday.
Also , Monday there is a 6 hour stoppage from 0400hrs until 1000hrs.
They will attempt to get matters back to normal by lunchtime, but they suspect there will be major disruption for most of the day.

NGT Trolleybus Scheme Rejected!!

NGT TrolleybusAs you are aware the NGT trolleybus scheme has been rejected.

The decision was welcomed by campaigners along the proposed route who had mounted a vigorous campaign against the scheme.

Here are some reasons below from the Inspector’s report for the rejection:

  • No significant improvements in road congestion
  • Pollution would increase overall
  • Little evidence to show it would improve connectivity
  • Many passengers would have to stand on trolleybuses

Here is a link to the Inspector’s Report

Here are just a few questions being raised locally, which we are sure you may have many more you wish to add.

  1. What does this mean for the future of Adel?
  2. Will LCC still go-ahead with the Park & Ride, University playing fields?
  3. Will there be a connection between Adel and Holt Park?

A660 Joint Council thanks everyone who put so much time and energy into fighting the scheme over the last four years!

Please feel free to pass on to your neighbours and relatives as it may be of interest to them.

Einformation RE-SITING OF THE SPEED INDICATOR DEVICE (SID)‏

Speed Indicator DeviceAt the Adel Crag Community Association meeting in October the Chair raised the question of the Speed Indicator Device to the police.

Cllr Barry Anderson commented as follows:

“As you may be aware I have been in contact with Highways to have the SID machine that is currently on Adel Lane re-sited as its effectiveness on Adel Lane has been diminished due to the speed hump immediately before its current location. Highways have now come forward with two potential locations. I would be pleased to receive your comments on the 2 options they are putting forward.”

Highways have commented as follows:

“Please find attached a sketch plan showing the proposed locations for the SID that is currently on Adel Lane. One location is in advance of both schools and affords good visibility of the sign as well as an adequate detection range. I have also considered a column on Long Causeway just north of St Helen’s Lane. Whilst that is a good location in visibility and detection terms, it is a little remote from the schools.”

I would be pleased if you would let me know which location you feel would be the most effective and I can feed that in to the decision making process.
