Adel Neighbourhood Police News – July 2013

Police WomenWe have not had any burglaries reported this week (30th July) in the Adel area.  However, we have had three other crimes reported to us.

Someone has attempted to break into a garage on Adel Lane but had not been successful overnight 22nd to 23rd July.

A gardener working on Dunstarn Lane had his van rifled through and two rucksacks stolen then some gardening tools that were a short distance away were also stolen. This occurred on the 24th July 2013.

And finally we had some metal garden ornaments stolen from an address on The Drive on the 24th July.

The travellers have now left the Bedquilts area, it has been reported that there was some rubbish left at the site but the council were well on hand in clearing this up.

Neighbourhood Policing Team telephone number change

We’ve received the following update from the Police.

Dear all,

You will no doubt be aware that we are making a few changes, with the intention of making us more effective and streamlined. From today you will no longer be able to contact us on the 01274 number that was previously published for contacting Aireborough & Wharfedale NPT. If I am to be realistic, the number of times that the number would have been answered was few and the majority of people had to leave a voice message.

From today the way to contact us for routine matters or to contact you local PCSO or PC is to contact 101. I know there will be people out there who will say that this is another retrograde step, however I can assure you that by doing this we will be able to provide a better service.

Firstly any caller will be answered, whatever the time of day. The call taker will then assess the best course of action. This may mean deploying officers immediately, something that would not have happened before, it will definitely mean that we are not picking up serious incidents from messages on our ansaphone several hours later – we often get callers leaving messages about burglaries and other serious matters, I am sure you will appreciate we would want to deploy to matters like this as soon as we can.

If your call is to communicate with a specific officer then the call taker will connect you to them if they are on duty via their personal radio telephone. If they are not on duty they will use internal email to notify the officer thus giving an audit trail and some accountability to your contact.

If your call is something that is not urgent then the call taker will send a message to our team email (which you can also contact directly yourselves aa.nptaireboroughwharfedale@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk ). This will be picked up by the duty Sergeant and allocated to the best person to help you.

Hopefully this change will improve the service we provide to you, our customers and will be a massive improvement to what we had before. I know that some would rather speak to someone sat in their local police station but times have moved on and we have invested in technology which will get the most appropriate resource to you in the quickest possible time. That resource will be one of your local Neighbourhood Policing team officers who is out and about in your locality.

I would appreciate it if local representatives and organisations could disseminate this as widely as possible.

Kind Regards.

Adel Neighbourhood Police News – June 2013

Police WomenCrime Report

There has been one Burglary Dwelling reported this week. The burglary occurred on Kingsley Drive, where they had there integral garage door forced open. The suspect in this manages to steal a number of tools before they make off unseen. Enquiries are ongoing.

The Speed Indicator Device (SID) was deployed along the Causeway on Wednesday 19th June after residents raised concerns of speeding in the area. On this occasion one vehicle was found to be in excess of the 30 MPH speed limit. We will continue to monitor this issue and take positive action when culprits are identified.

ASB and other crimes have shown a significant reduction over the past 12 months, the flow of information from the community has greatly assisted with this.

Police Women

Crime Report

There has been one report of a theft that occurred from a garden on Dunstarn Drive. This occurred between 17:30 hrs on 22/05/13- 08:30 hrs on 23/05/13. Please can this be a timely reminder to local residents not to leave any valuables unattended. Leaving items on show to passing thieves is an open invitation.

Surrounding areas have seen a slight increase of theft from sheds and garages etc. It would appear that high valued cycles are been targeted. If you are in possession of a high value bike or any other valuable that you keep in an outbuilding, please consider your security. Recent thefts have involved the usual forcing of the lock and door and even the removal of the actual door. Shed alarms can be bought for low price, especially when the price of a stolen bike or other equipment is so high.

There has been no calls’ relating to anti social behaviour, which again is brilliant news. High visibility patrols will continue in the area in an effort to deter any calls.
