Review of ALMO’s and Housing Management Arrangements – PUBLIC MEETING

Just received this via Leeds Tenants Federation which originates from the Corporate Support, Leeds City Council.

You will be aware of the review of ALMOs and housing management arrangements and that we are current consulting with all those who have an interest in the outcome.

I am writing to remind you that there will be a public meeting tomorrow Tuesday 26 February 2013, 6.30 – 8.00pm at St Chads Parish Centre, Otley Road, Headingley, LS16 5JT. Senior staff from the Council and West North West Homes will be there to explain the process and to answer any questions you may have. We understand that you are involved in a local resident group and we would be very grateful if you could bring this meeting to the attention of as many of your tenants and neighbours as possible – and we hope to see you there.

In addition we have plans to visit the West North West area in a mobile van on Thursday 28 March – so if you would like us to meet with your group, or representatives of it, please let us know.

All Council tenants should have received a “Your Home Your Say leaflet”. But background on the review, including the leaflet, can be found on the web at http://www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/Pages/Your-Home-Your-Say.aspx

Stop the Trolleybus!

Trolley-83

Leeds City Council’s Executive Board will be meeting in March to decide whether or not to support the trolleybus scheme.

If they give it their approval, we’ll have a long fight on our hands which we might not win.

But if they reject it, we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief.

So if we put the effort in now, it could pay a huge dividend.

The things to do are;

1. Email the Yorkshire Evening Post letters page at: eped@ypn.co.uk

2. Email the Executive Board councillors.

3. Email your local councillors.

4. Email the Metro councillors.

and tell them what you think of the trolleybus scheme grandly called “New Generation Transport”

Please see below a document containing all the necessary email addresses.

It is anticipated that the existing bus service of bus routes such as the 1, 6 and 28 becoming uneconomic to operate and possibly discontinued.

If you want to know more about the scheme, and how it would affect you, here are links to three websites with information:

Finally, transport consultant Don Townsley will be giving a talk this Wednesday on why NGT is bad for Leeds. Here are the details:

Time:  7pm

Date:   Wednesday 27th February

Place: The Heart centre, Bennett Road, Headingley.

Everyone is welcome.

Please remember to send those emails to the people who can make a difference, and tell everyone you know what’s in store if we do nothing.

Bodington Hall Plans

Please see below received from Greg Mulholland which may be of interest to you.

“I just wanted to drop you a quick email to let you know about the plans for the future of the Bodington Hall site.

Outline planning permission for houses to be built on the site had already been granted and David Wilson Homes are now preparing a detailed planning application to put to Leeds City Council.

There will be a public meeting about the proposals hosted by David Wilson Homes this Wednesday (February 6th) from 4.30pm to 7.30pm at Bodington Hall but if you can’t attend you can send your thoughts to them at jonathan@idplanning.co.uk.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can be of any help on this or any other issue.”
