IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL SITE(S) FOR A PLAY AREA IN ADEL

Adel Crag Community Association wish to share with you that we have not given up on trying to find a suitable play area for children to play.

It is our understanding that Parks & Countryside have agreed with WNWHL to work jointly to identify other possible sites in Adel for the Playground looking at not just Parks but Environment & Neighbourhoods land.

Should anyone have any suggestions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Adel Village Community Garden – Survey Results

Some of you may recall that back in May 2013 some residents responded to a proposal to develop an area of land on Sir George Martin Drive, opposite Wayland Croft, into an Adel Village Community Garden.

Consultation letters were sent out in the immediate vicinity of the proposed community garden on Adel Mead, Adel Vale, Mulberry Rise, Wayland Approach, Wayland Croft, and Wharfe Close.

West North West Homes Leeds had a good response to the consultation, with the results being as follows:

  • 9 residents were in favour of a garden with informal play equipment
  • 12 residents were in favour of a garden without informal play equipment
  • 38 residents were against the proposal for a community garden and/or any development of the land

These results indicate that almost two thirds of respondents are against the proposal to progress with a community garden or develop the land at all.

West North West Homes Leeds has, therefore, decided that they are unable to support the proposal for a community garden at this time.

West Yorkshire Trading Standards – “Cold Calling Control Zone”

You may recall last year your Chair, Francis Garbutt sent out details that he attended a steering group meeting with other interested parties lead by Cllr Barry Anderson in getting a “No Cold Calling” zone within our area.

All residents living on the Adel Wood Estate, Wayland Croft and Wayland Approach Estate should have all recently received a letter from West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service for you to either vote for or against the proposal of a Cold Calling Control Zone in our area.

All we are asking you to do is to Vote and support the proposed Cold Calling Control Zone which is extremely important to us.  Please ensure you include your name and address on the form.  You may if you so wish return the form by hand to the Adel Wood Stores, Wayland Croft.  A box has been provided in the shop to place your form in.

Adel Neighbourhood Police News – July 2013

Police WomenWe have not had any burglaries reported this week (30th July) in the Adel area.  However, we have had three other crimes reported to us.

Someone has attempted to break into a garage on Adel Lane but had not been successful overnight 22nd to 23rd July.

A gardener working on Dunstarn Lane had his van rifled through and two rucksacks stolen then some gardening tools that were a short distance away were also stolen. This occurred on the 24th July 2013.

And finally we had some metal garden ornaments stolen from an address on The Drive on the 24th July.

The travellers have now left the Bedquilts area, it has been reported that there was some rubbish left at the site but the council were well on hand in clearing this up.
