Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 5th March 2012

On the 8th a national day of action against metal theft took place, our area took part as we have 2 scrap metal dealers on our patch, both visited and no issues. 7 vehicles and occupants were stopped and searched, but again no issues.

Also on the 8th we joined up with Leeds City Council Entertainment and Licensing officers and conducted visited 8 pubs across the area, 5 will be revisited due to various breaches being found, 3 of these were in Yeadon, 1 in Rawdon and 1 in Horsforth.

We are coming up to the end of the financial year, North West Outer are very pleased to announce that there are 170 burglaries FEWER than last year, this amounts to a 4.3 in 1000 chance of being burgled in our area, which I am sure you will agree is very low indeed. We have put a lot of hard work into achieving these figures and will continue with burglary patrols due to a recent spate of burglaries to sheds and garages.

Road Safety, Bodington Hall

Cllr Barry Anderson was asked about the recent traffic counts that have been carried out on Adel Lane and the ring road end of Long Causeway, he took this issue up with Highways Planning and set out below is the reply he received.

“Dear Cllr Anderson

During the consideration of the recent planning application for residential development at the Bodington site we highlighted concerns to the developer about the potential impact of the development on Adel Lane. You will be aware that the application was subsequently refused and that highway reasons formed part of that refusal.

As a result of your e-mail I have contacted the applicant’s Transport Consultant and he has advised that the counts and radar speed surveys were carried out by his team in response to the highway concerns and that at the appropriate time this information will be presented to us for comment. This would either be as part of a revised planning application submission or as part of an appeal on the refused scheme.

A meeting with the developer and his team has been arranged by Planning for Monday 26th March to discuss the way forward. I hope to be in a better position to advise you when the data will become available after the meeting.”

Kind regards

Bodington Hall – planning application

6 March 2012
Written by Councillor Barry Anderson

I refer to the proposed planning application at Bodington and would advise that I have received the following update from the Principal Planner in this case:

“The application was not revised. We have refused Outline planning permission at the Bodington Hall site because of our concerns over the use of Adel Lane as a two way means of access. We issued a delegated refusal last Friday. We are hopefully that the applicant will continue to work with us to resolve our concerns over the use of this access.”

I have also attached two reports explaining what has happened.

Report 1
Report 2

I trust this keeps you up to date with this matter.

Thanks

Barry
