Adel Crag gets the go-ahead for Community Notice Board

We are pleased to inform you that the Area Panel of West North West Homes Leeds has approved our request for a community notice board.

It has been agreed without spoiling the natural beauty of the area that the notice board is to be located at the bottom part of the communal grassed area opposite the local shop facing Sir George Martin Drive.

The benefits for this notice board would provide information to residents and the community of issues that are relevant to the local community.

We have been given to understand that the notice board will be erected sometime in March. We will endeavour to keep you posted of further developments.

Dear Householder,

I am very sorry to report that a number of residents in the area have been the victim of lead thefts.

I wanted to take the opportunity to contact all residents to provide some crime reduction advice and keen to make your local officers known to you and how you can contact them.

The houses that have been targeted in the area have had the lead flashing removed from about the window / door. This crime is usually committed by people looking to weigh the metal in for money at scrap metal dealers.

In order to reduce future incidents I would like to recommend anti-climb paint. This can usually be obtained from most D-l-Y and hardware stores. If you paint this directly on to the lead it may act as a deterrent as scrap dealers will not weigh in lead which has this painted on due to the effect it has on their equipment when they melt it down.

As well as your local officers being around the area I would like to let you know you can contact us directly either by phone or email.

If you are reporting an emergency then you must ring 999.

For a ‘non emergency’ to report a crime or routine incident ring 101.

If you wish to speak directly to your Neighbourhood Policing Team at Otley Police Station call us on 01274 471458. This is not a permanently staffed number and you may have to leave a message. We will get back to you personally and the contact will be from a local NF officer who understands the problems of your neighbourhood.

You can also contact one of your local officers directly (if they are on duty) they will give you’re their contact numbers personally when you see them or they are available on our website www.westyorkshire.police.uk/npt.

If you have any information regarding the lead thefts I would like you to please contact us in one of the above ways.

You could Also contact Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.

Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 6th February 2012

SCAM:
A NHW coordinator in the Pennines area has reported that last weekend he received a phone call that sounded like a scam.

“I received a call about stopping unwanted phone calls…. the thing is the caller asks for only for £1.99 as a one-off payment but wants visa card details as it’s not on your normal phone bill.”

The man was very plausible, sounding just like a BT operator. When I asked for his name and number … he hung up. BT state it’s an international scam and give the advice, just say NO and put the phone down.

Crime:
There have been no reported burglaries or car crime in the area this week.

On Wayland Approach there have been two houses that have had lead flashing stolen from porch roofs. The local scrap yards have been checked to see if anyone has tried to take lead there in exchange for money. There are no further lines of enquiry for this at the moment.

On Farrar Lane a lady has been walking home from the shop’s with her child and pram when she has been looking in her bag, a male from behind has snatched the bag and run off. There were no witness’s to this. This happened at dinner time.

ASB:
No incidents to report.

Other news:
PCSO Claire Salkeld has been into St John the Baptist Church to provide an input on Road safety, which was very much enjoyed by the pupils.

Arrests of note:
A 19 year old male from Holt Park has been arrested for a theft that occurred on Farrar Lane where a handbag was stolen from a victim, drugs were also found on the male when arrested, he has been charged with the drugs offences and further enquiries are on going with the theft.
