Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 19th March 2012

Faithwatch
A radiator and some other scrap items have been stolen from a garden on Bransdale Avenue, Guiseley.  Also at Rawdon Crematorium workmen have left the site for the day and when they return the following morning they discover that some specialist piping has been stolen. The TRIBE hairdressers in Yeadon has had some lead flashing stolen overnight from above the window at the front of the shop. On Church Lane, Adel a Mercedes Sprinter van has had the whole of the exhaust system stolen whilst it had been locked and secure at the roadside overnight.

Farmwatch
The Cricket ground on Fink Hill, Horsforth has had the standalone pavilion building broken into. The suspect’s have removed the lock to the door and have stolen a Bull Mastiff Randsome Lawnmower. OnBrownberrie Lane, Horsforth a loading Shovel that looks like a small JCB (plant equipment) has been stolen.

Crime
There has been 1 report of burglary, which has occurred on Heathfield, whilst the occupants were upstairs asleep, suspect’s have used a molegrip type tool on the rear UPVC door, they have tried to snap the euro profile lock but have not been successful and have made off empty handed.

On Smithy Mills Lanea wooden garden shed has been broken into by suspect’s causing extensive damage to the door and on Church Lanea Mercedes Sprinter van has had the whole of the exhaust system stolen whilst it had been locked and secure at the roadside overnight.

ASB
A call has been received about a mini motorbike on the Bedquilts playing fields, an area search was conducted but no bike was to be found in the area.

Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 12th March 2012

MICROSOFT SUPPORT CENTRE TELEPHONE SCAM People have been receiving calls from an Indian based call centre claiming to be calling on behalf of Microsoft Support. The operator say’s that a fault has been identified with the Window’s programme you have on your computer/laptop and they are calling to resolve this for you. The steps you are asked to follow actually installs a malicious virus which enables them to get access to your personal information. If you do receive a call from such a company, please do not give out any information no matter how insistent the caller may be. Just hang up.

Crime:
There has been a burglary on Adel Park Gardens, a ground floor window of a wooden garage has been smashed, then suspects use bodily force to gain entry to the main house through the garage. Once inside the suspect’s have searched the property and stolen a 60″ TV, a lot of electrical items and a lot of expensive jewellery. This has happened during the day time. Enquiries are on going.

On Wayland Approach there has been some lead stolen from a porch roof over night. A robbery occurred on Redesdale Gardens here 2 males who had attended a house party on that street then demanded the victim’s phone and chain, the victim said no and was then punched and kicked, the phone was then stolen. 2 males have been arrested as below.

Other news:
PC Knowles and PCSO King have also attended the Adel PACT meeting, the residents didn’t have any issues to be raised with the Police.

Arrests of note:
A 19 year old male from Horsforth and a 22 year old male from the Hawksworth estate have been arrested for a robbery that occurred above, both have been charged and remanded.

Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 5th March 2012

On the 8th a national day of action against metal theft took place, our area took part as we have 2 scrap metal dealers on our patch, both visited and no issues. 7 vehicles and occupants were stopped and searched, but again no issues.

Also on the 8th we joined up with Leeds City Council Entertainment and Licensing officers and conducted visited 8 pubs across the area, 5 will be revisited due to various breaches being found, 3 of these were in Yeadon, 1 in Rawdon and 1 in Horsforth.

We are coming up to the end of the financial year, North West Outer are very pleased to announce that there are 170 burglaries FEWER than last year, this amounts to a 4.3 in 1000 chance of being burgled in our area, which I am sure you will agree is very low indeed. We have put a lot of hard work into achieving these figures and will continue with burglary patrols due to a recent spate of burglaries to sheds and garages.

Faithwatch
On Adel Green suspects have tried to steal lead flashing from a roof but have been disturbed, they have caused a small amount of damage to the roof and then left in a silver coloured small vehicle.

On Sadler Way also in Adel there has been about £600.00 of lead flashing taken from an unoccupied property. Owners are in the process of moving in when they have noticed the lead missing.

On Arthington Lane there has been £300.00 of lead flashing taken from a property overnight.

Farmwatch
On West End Lane an outbuilding on a farm yard has been broken into and containers with red diesel worth £200.00 have been stolen.

Crime
There have been no burglaries in the area this week.

There has been a Sat Nav stolen from an Audi Q5 that may have been left insecure on Adel Green, also on Adel Green suspects have tried to steal lead flashing from a roof but have been disturbed, they have caused a small amount of damage to the roof and then left in a silver coloured small vehicle.

On Sadler Way there has been about £600.00 of lead flashing taken from an unoccupied property. Owners are in the process of moving in when they have noticed the lead missing.

On Oaklands Fold some garages have been broken into, and some attempted. There has been some expensive mountain bikes taken and also a set of golf clubs. This has happened overnight.

Other news
PCSO Salkeld has been at St John the Baptist School carrying out parking patrols, a taxi driver was warned about parking on the zig zags.

Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 27th February 2012

We took part in a national metal theft day of action on the 27th where local scrap yards were checked for any stolen stock, visitors to the sites were checked along with their vehicles and any property on them, in total 9 vehicles were stopped, 6 searched along with the occupants and 1 reported for road traffic offences.

Faithwatch
PC Stead attended the latest Faithwatch meeting which was held on the 28th at the Adel Meeting House to provide an update on crime and on hand for any crime prevention advice. There are no specific incidents to report.

Farmwatch
On Carlton Lane suspects have entered a farm-yard through the main gates overnight and have entered an outbuilding. Suspects have selected a range of farmer’s tools and then left through the main gates. Nearly £3000.00 worth of tools and items have been stolen.

Crime
There have been no reported burglaries or car crime this week in the area.

Other news
PCSO Reardon visited the Scouts at the Adel Methodist Church this week, which was enjoyed by all, our dog handler also called in to show off the working police dog which was a highlight for many. PCSO King and Southwood have provided inputs on stranger danger and people who help us to the pupils of Adel Primary.

Arrests of note
A 47 year old male from Kirkstall has been arrested on suspicion of going equipped to burgle after he was found in the evening on Weetwood Lane with a torch and lock pick, jewellery was also found following a search, he has been charged and remanded, further enquiries are on going to locate the owner of the jewellery.

Neighbourhood Police Update W/c 20th February 2012

Faithwatch – On Holtdale Gardens an unoccupied property has been broken into by suspects smashing a window and climbing in. A Combi boiler and some copper piping has been taken.

On Holt Park Crescent home owners have been woken by the sound of ladders being put up against a dorma bedroom at 7.30 in the morning, lead flashing has been pulled away from the roof area causing damage. The suspect has then made off, later that day a male has knocked on the door of the same house stating that he had come to repair the roof. The damage to the roof had not been reported at this time so it is believed that this could be the suspect returning to take the lead he had already stripped away from the roof. Enquiries are on going.

Crime:
There have been no reported burglaries in the area this week. There has been 1 report of vehicle crime where a catalytic converter has been stolen from a Honda CRV, on Church Lane this has happened during the day whilst the car has been parked, locked and secure.

ASB:
There have been no calls regarding anti social behaviour this week.

Arrests of note:
A telephone call was received from a member of the public saying they could smell cannabis from a nearby premise. Officers attend and locate a cannabis factory on Otley Road, the cannabis factory has been dismantled and destroyed. A 38 year old female and a 42 year old male both from Otley have been arrested, both are currently on bail.
